Week One!

I really do not remember last time my first week being this tough! I have been so hungry! I'm really glad that I started watching what I ate on Friday though. Realistically, it is impossible to lose more than 1 lb. in one day. Somehow I managed to lose 3?!! I was weighed in around noon on Friday with clothes on. Saturday morning I weighed myself naked at 8:30 in the morning & I was down to 167 from 170, yay! I'm sure clothes, time of day & different scales had something to do with that. Since then it's been a pretty steady .2-.5 a day with a total of about 6lbs. My official first weight loss weigh in is tomorrow I'm kind of nervous. 2 of my favorite IP products is the oatmeal & the mashed potatoes. Since the oatmeal is a restricted product, I try not to eat it every day & use my restricted first thing in the morning. Who knows if I'll get a chocolate craving & want to make an IP "muffin" from the chocolate pancake mix & top it with WF Chocolate Syrup! My IP office gave me some recipes, one being a Strawberry Dreamcicle. It consists of a cup of ice, 8 oz water, IP Vanilla Pudding & a single serve strawberry Crystal Light. It was pretty good but I only had a couple of Vanilla Pudding meals. So I decided to switch it up a bit & use chocolate pudding & Crystal Light Cherry Pomegranate. Oh my it tasted like a chocolate covered cherry, so yummy!!

Week 1 Day 1

Oh my oh my. Well my appointment started out by my almost missing it. Thanks to walking out of the house without my phone & then forgetting that I hadn't "sprung" my vehicle clock forward an hour. I realized I was late for my appointment when I was at my friend Hollie's house & I looked at the time. 11:45. My appointment was at 11:15! I called Tim who was super understanding & he let me come in for my appointment. After getting my paperwork out of the way, he measured me & I weighed in. I weighed in at 3 lbs less than my 2012 beginning weight. Wow that makes me so sad. We won't even say what my measurements were. No wonder my pants won't fit, good grief. If I have learned only one thing through this journey it's that my body is so very carb sensitive. This will not be a fix it & forget it situation. This needs to be a rest of my life, lifetime change. Goodbye pasta. Goodbye glazed donut. Goodbye bread & potatoes. Goodbye American Cuisine. Ok maybe that was a bit dramatic but I really do need to make some lifestyle changes. At least now I have a starting point. I'm actually starting back on my diet tomorrow although today I tried to be good, after my meeting. I ate an egg salad sandwich with bread. Did I say I was being good? Hey, at least it was only 45 calories a slice! I was still hungry, after eyeballing the left over coffee, I made a frozen cappuccino with the cappuccino drink, coffee & ice blended in the blender. Yumm it was good & hit the spot. For dinner, I grilled a whole chicken on the grill for the fam but I only ate the breast meat, no skin. For my side I sautéed zucchini, onion, & green pepper in some grape seed oil. That was delish also. :) I needed some protein so I drank a muscle milk that my husband had in the fridge. Remember, I'm not starting IP until tomorrow.

IP Round 2!

It's the night before my first weigh in.
Ok, I'm kind of fibbing.
This will actually be my 2nd attempt at the Ideal Protein Diet. The first time I did it, it was October of 2012 & we had just got back from a trip to Yellowstone National Park and after looking through the pictures on my computer, I was disgusted & appalled at the way I looked. I had been thinking about doing the Ideal Protein diet for a while but wasn't 100% sure that I was ready for such a commitment. Well, after seeing those pictures, I called & was like sign me up!!!
So, I met with my coach Tim. He asked me some questions, took my measurements & weighed me. Do I dare say that my starting weight was 173?!!
I got my starter pack which consisted of a handy dandy tote, a water bottle, shaker bottle, 21 sample packs of food & a months worth of supplements. This was not free, just FYI. I don't remember the exact amount, let's just say it would be about a weeks pay for a secretary's wage.
I will not bore you with my week by week weight loss, mostly because I don't really remember. I will however tell you that week 1 I lost 7.5 lbs. Yay!!! This was probably all carb weight - My name is Angie and I am a carb-a-holic. For real. Big time. It's bad.
So by the time mid-December had rolled around, I had lost about 36 lbs. Whoop whoop!! And I was feeling pretty good about myself. I was down from a size 14 to a size 6! And then the weight just stopped coming off. Then I stopped seeing Tim. I only went through Phase I & I never learned the secret to keeping the weight off. So here I am, a year & a half later, less than 10 lbs away from where I began and absolutely positively miserable.
I'm hoping this blog & my public display of my weight loss journey will keep me motivated to keep going - and finish all 4 Phases. To be continued... tomorrow...
